LITTLE ROT / SITE INFORMATION
Privacy policy
Last updated: 23 October 2026
This privacy policy explains how information is handled when you visit Little Rot at compost.gardenwaterplan.com, use its composting planner and log, or contact us.
Who is responsible for your information?
Little Rot is operated by James Moore, who is responsible for the personal information handled for the website. For privacy questions or requests, email jamesmoorewebcraft@gmail.com.
Your planner answers and compost records
The planner works in your browser. It uses local storage to remember your completed plan, including the answers you enter, your selected method and checklist choices. The compost log also stores batch names, dates, statuses, notes and care-check records in your browser.
The planner does not send these answers or records to a Little Rot visitor database or account. They do not automatically synchronise between devices, browsers or domains, and we cannot retrieve them for you remotely. This storage is used to provide the saved-plan and record-keeping features, not to measure your browsing or build advertising profiles.
You can delete individual batches using the log controls. “Clear & start again” removes the saved plan and checklist. You can also remove this site’s locally stored information through your browser settings. Records otherwise remain until you remove them or your browser clears them.
Batch export saves a backup file on your device. The file includes your notes. Import reads the selected file in your browser and adds new records without overwriting existing ones. Printing and other downloads use your browser and the destination you select. You control those copies and should keep them secure.
When you contact us
If you email Little Rot, we receive your email address, any name you provide, your message and any attachments you choose to send. We use that information to respond, investigate relevant issues and handle corrections or privacy requests. Please do not send passwords, payment information or other sensitive details that are unnecessary for your enquiry.
James Moore is the only person who routinely accesses these enquiries. The email service is provided through Gmail, which processes messages to provide its service under Google’s applicable terms and privacy policy.
We retain routine enquiry emails for 12 months after the enquiry is resolved, then delete them. Relevant information may be retained longer where needed for an ongoing dispute, a legal obligation or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. Any longer retention is limited to that purpose.
Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing emails. We do not use enquiry details to create a marketing mailing list.
Website hosting and technical information
The website is hosted by Hostinger. According to the site-specific information supplied on 23 October 2026, its hosting origin is located in the United Kingdom.
Hostinger’s access logs for this subdomain record:
- The request timestamp and client IP address.
- The requested host or domain, and the HTTP request line, including the method and requested path.
- The user-agent string, which contains browser or software information.
- A country code inferred from the request, where a meaningful classification is available.
- The HTTP response status, response size in bytes and request duration.
This access metadata is separate from the planner answers and compost-log records saved in your browser. We use necessary technical information to deliver and maintain the website, diagnose faults and protect it against misuse.
Image optimisation is configured for this site, including WebP conversion and image resizing. The available site information does not establish that a separate CDN edge cache is serving this subdomain or identify separate site-specific WAF log processing.
Retention of technical logs
Hostinger has not provided a fixed retention period, deletion date or specific retention criterion for this site’s origin access logs, any applicable CDN or security logs, or any provider-held backup, replica or support copies. The available information also does not confirm whether additional copies of each log category exist.
A period available to query through hPanel is not a confirmed deletion period. We therefore do not state that these records are deleted after 24 hours, seven days or another unverified period. We will update this notice if Hostinger provides the relevant retention schedule or criteria.
Processing locations and safeguards
The UK origin location does not establish the location of every supporting system, log replica or backup. The available site-specific records do not identify all such locations or the international-transfer mechanism applicable to each data flow.
Hostinger’s data processing addendum describes its framework for hosting services, affiliates and authorised subprocessors. We do not treat that general framework as confirmation that a particular transfer mechanism applies to every log flow for this site. Further provider information is available in Hostinger’s privacy policy.
Why we use personal information
For ordinary enquiries, issue resolution and necessary website administration and security, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating a useful, reliable website, answering people who contact us and protecting the service. We limit the information used to what is needed for those purposes.
Where retaining or disclosing information is necessary to meet a legal obligation, we rely on that obligation for the relevant processing.
Analytics, cookies and design fonts
Little Rot does not use Google Analytics or Hostinger Reach. The Little Rot plugin does not add advertising or analytics tracking scripts. Its saved-plan and compost-log features use the browser storage described above.
The current website design requests fonts through Google Fonts. To deliver those font files, your browser connects to Google and transmits connection information, including your IP address and browser request details. See Google’s privacy policy for information about Google’s handling of information. This font delivery is separate from website analytics.
WordPress administration and hosting security functions may use cookies or other technical mechanisms where needed to deliver or protect those functions. Administrator sign-in is separate from using the public planner. Browser storage is covered by this notice even where it is not a cookie.
Amazon links and other websites
Shopping links lead to Amazon UK and include our affiliate tracking ID. When you follow a link, Amazon handles your visit and may use cookies or other technologies under its own policies. Little Rot does not receive your Amazon payment details. The affiliate ID identifies our website; it does not contain the planner answers or compost notes you enter.
RHS and manufacturer references also lead to external websites with their own information-handling practices. An external link does not give those websites access to your saved Little Rot plan or compost records through the planner.
Sharing and international processing
We use Hostinger for website hosting and Gmail for enquiry correspondence. These providers may use supporting service providers. We do not sell your enquiry messages or planner records. Information may be disclosed where legally required or necessary to deal with a relevant legal claim.
Google states that it operates servers internationally and uses transfer mechanisms including applicable adequacy arrangements and, for covered UK-to-US transfers, the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Its data transfer information explains these arrangements. The confirmed UK hosting origin and the limits of the available information about other Hostinger processing locations and safeguards are explained in the hosting section above. Contact us if you need information about the safeguards relevant to your enquiry.
Your rights and choices
Depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis involved, you may have rights to request access to, correction or deletion of personal information we hold, or restriction of its use. Data portability applies only where its legal conditions are met.
You have the right to object to our use of your personal information where we rely on legitimate interests. Contact jamesmoorewebcraft@gmail.com to raise an objection or make another information-rights request. We may need enough information to confirm your identity and understand your request.
For records held only in your browser, use the planner and log controls or your browser settings to view, export or remove the information, as described above.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you are concerned about how personal information is handled. You may contact us first so we can try to address the issue.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if relevant website features or information-handling practices change. The date above records the latest revision.
